Include the equipment type, make, model, symptoms and operating conditions in a mechanical maintenance enquiry. Maintenance history, a nameplate photo and existing documentation can support the initial review.
How should a fault be described?
Note observations such as noise, vibration, leakage, heat or changes in flow and pressure. Explain whether the issue is continuous or occurs at a particular load. Symptoms alone are not a confirmed diagnosis; inspection is necessary.
Which equipment details are useful?
- Equipment type, make, model and nameplate information.
- Application and operating environment.
- Date and scope of the last maintenance or repair.
- Replaced parts and recurring problems.
- Available downtime and standby equipment, if any.
Are photos or videos enough?
Images can help an initial review but may not replace physical inspection and measurement. Do not remove guards to capture images; follow your facility’s safe-work procedures.
When is the scope determined?
After the initial enquiry, inspection needs, potential part changes and maintenance scope are reviewed. Completion timing depends on the condition, part availability and work schedule.
